How To Find Pascal

Pascal swims and dives in the water

You’ll occasionally find Pascal swimming and diving in the water surrounding your island. However, the best way to get him to appear is to catch a Scallop.

Anytime you dive into the water and find a Scallop, Pascal will appear out of the ocean by the time you resurface. Remember that you can only encounter Pascal once per day, even if you find multiple Scallops.

How To Find Scallops and Pearls

Scallops and pearls can be found underwater

Since Scallops fall under the Sea Creature category, there’s a chance you’ll randomly find one each time you dive underwater. Furthermore, Scallops can be found any time of day and during any month of the year, regardless of your region.

Pearls are much harder to come by, but can also be found by swimming and diving in your island’s oceans. Additionally, Pascal will sometimes offer to trade you a Pearl for a Scallop. You’ll need at least 1-3 Pearls to craft each piece of mermaid-themed furniture.

Since Pearls aren’t technically Sea Creatures, they cannot be donated to the Museum and won’t appear in your Critterpedia. However, you can sell Pearls to Nook’s Cranny for a cool 10,000 Bells each, though we recommend saving at least 20 to craft the entire mermaid furniture set.

Pascal will trade your scallops

Upon speaking to Pascal, he’ll offer to trade you a reward for your Scallop. There’s a chance you’ll get a random mermaid-themed DIY recipe, a random mermaid-themed clothing item, or a Pearl.

Once your character learns a DIY recipe, they’ll be able to craft the item using a workbench. Each mermaid DIY recipe calls for at least one Pearl along with different seashells that appear on your island’s beaches. You may also need some Iron Nuggets and Stone as well.
