Best Settings For Cyberpunk 2077 – Increase FPS, Boost Performance

Most people are aware by now that Cyberpunk 2077 is not running well on a lot of devices and it’s full of bugs, even on the PC version.

That’s why we created this settings guide to help you get better performance in Cyberpunk 2077.

By following this guide, you will get better performance, higher FPS and a more fluid gameplay.

The bugs won’t disappear though, you’ll have to wait for CD Projekt Red to fix them. This is nothing short of a premature launch so upcoming patches will address the performance issues on PC as well.

The Best Settings For Cyberpunk 2077

Note that the game requires a somewhat powerful GPU to run well, especially with RTX on. Here are the minimum and recommended system requirements for Cyberpunk 2077.

Update Your GPU Drivers

The first optimization is always to update your GPU drivers. These driver updates increase performance, fix crashes, and other issues.

This applies to both Nvidia and AMD GPU drivers.

We highly recommend that you check whether or not your GPU drivers are updated.

This applies to CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 as well. The game ready drivers gives you the best possible performance from your graphics card so it’s important to download and install it first.

To update your GPU drivers, open AMD Radeon Software (For AMD GPUs) or NVIDIA GeForce Experience (for NVIDIA GPUs) and check for any updates. If there is an update available, download and install it.

And here comes the fun part!

We will now optimize Cyberpunk 2077 with regards to performance but also keep the most important quality settings in mind, especially the settings with a low impact on FPS. So what you get is a nice balance between optimal performance and stunning graphics.

Let’s start by optimizing the video settings in Cyberpunk 2077:

  1. From the main menu, click on Settings.
  2. Click on the Video tab.
  3. Set VSync to Off.
  4. Set Maximum FPS to Off.
  5. Set Windowed Mode to Fullscreen
  6. Set Resolution to your monitor’s maximum native resolution (for example 1920×1080 or 2560×1440).
  7. If your monitor supports HDR, you can set an HDR Mode to your liking.

Now that you’ve optimized the video settings, let’s move on to the Graphics settings.

Start by setting the Quick Preset setting to Custom. We’ll now begin by setting the basic graphics settings:

  1. Set Field of View to 80. Since it’s singleplayer, you don’t need anything higher than this.
  2. Set Film Grain to Off.
  3. Set Chromatic Aberration to Off.
  4. Set Depth of Field to Off.
  5. Set Lens Flare to Off.
  6. Set Motion Blur to Off.

All the settings above are best to have disabled unless you want that cinegraphic feel. We want performance and smooth gameplay so we definitely don’t want any of that.

Let’s move on to the more advanced settings!

With all these settings at the lowest setting value or disabled, we get around 90 FPS with our setup.

Here are the best advanced graphics settings for Cyberpunk 2077.

  1. Set Contact Shadows to Off.
  2. Set Improved Facial Lighting Geometry to Off.
  3. Set Anisotropy to 4.
  4. Set Local Shadow Mesh Quality to Medium.
  5. Set Local Shadow Quality to Medium. This setting has a high impact on performance so you can set this to Low if you keep experiencing FPS issues.
  6. Set Cascaded Shadows Range to Medium.
  7. Set Cascaded Shadows Resolution to Medium.
  8. Set Distant Shadows Resolution to Low.
  9. Set Volumetric Fog Resolution to Low.
  10. Set Volumetric Cloud Quality to Low.
  11. Set Max Dynamic Decals to Low.
  12. Set Screen Space Reflections Quality to Medium.
  13. Set Subsurface Scattering Quality to Medium.
  14. Set Ambient Occlusion to Off.

  16. Set Mirror Quality to Low.
  17. Set Level of Detail (LOD) to Medium.
  18. Set Ray Tracing to Off.
